Captain Stripe's vest is the core of a pirate's attire. With striped pockets from the ship's wrecked mainsail and more gold than they can carry, a pirate can always make do. The buttons are naturally made of gold coins from the captain's treasure, so the vest's owner always has something to negotiate with. The vest is, of course, adorned with a skull and crossbones, so no one mistakes the captain for a landlubber.
